Chile and Indonesia have agreed and signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IC-CEPA), this is a very good prospect for Chile to increase even duplicate their exports especially in fresh fruits. During 2016-2017 Chile obtained to increase their fresh fruit exports to Indonesia up to 81,94% compare to the prior season.
Currently the majority of fresh fruit that entered to Indonesian market is subjected to 5% tariff, but now near to 90% of Chilean products will enter duty-free to this market. The most exported fresh fruit to Indonesian market is grapes with 93% of the total, following by kiwis and pears.
“Signing with one of the largest economies in Pacific Asia, specifically with the ASEAN economies, was a yearning for many years”, said Paulina Nazal, the Director of the General Directorate of International Economic Relations.
